LONG BIO

Shay Wolf is a prairie-born classical pianist turned singer-songwriter. Characterized by her haunting, dreamy voice, she enchants audiences with songwriting and delivery that is raw, honest, and optimistic. Always searching for a silver lining, and endlessly inspired by nature, Shay’s music explores the beauty and pain of being human: her vocals and melodies are dreamy yet haunting, and her lyrics are scornful yet optimistic. She has been compared to the likes of Sarah McLachlan, Ellie Goulding and Birdy. Shay Wolf released her debut EP, ‘Stay’ in March 2023, and the EP draws on the theme of dreaming for things to change, but not being ready when they do. The acoustic/alt-pop project features vulnerable soaring vocals and expansive instrumentation to create an ethereal space for Shay Wolf to weave stories of loss and longing with hope for a brighter tomorrow. The EP reflects the artist’s own personal struggles with identity, loss and chronic dreaming. Shay Wolf teamed up with well-known Winnipeg musicians and producers such as John Paul Peters and musicians Jon Plett on drums and Julian Bradford on cello for the project. Shay Wolf is currently writing for her next project: an alt-pop album.
